For electricians and sparkies
An AI receptionist for electricians that answers while you're on the tools
Hello answers your phone, website chat and email while you're up a ladder or in a ceiling. It works out whether a caller has a fault, a quote or a question, gives the safety steps you've approved for anything dangerous, and books the job into your calendar with the address and the fault in the customer's words. Urgent jobs reach your phone by text before the call is put through.

What customers ring about, and how Hello handles it
Power's out
Hello asks the questions you'd ask: is it the whole house or one circuit, are the neighbours out too, has the main switch or RCD tripped. If the street is out, it points the caller to their lines company. If it's just their place, it books the call-out.
Burning smells, sparks and shocks
Hello reads your safety instructions straight away, such as switching off at the mains and calling 111 if someone is hurt or there's a fire. Then it texts you the address and puts the call through if you've asked it to.
Quotes for new work
New power points, lighting, heat pumps or a switchboard upgrade. Hello takes the address and what they want done, and books a time to look at the job.
"How much do you charge?"
Hello quotes your call-out fee and hourly rate if you approve them, and explains that bigger jobs get a written quote after you've seen the site.
Storm and flood damage
Hello gives your storm advice, like not resetting tripped breakers or using wet appliances until they've been checked, and books the inspection.
Certificates and compliance
Customers ask whether they'll get a certificate. Hello explains, in your words, that you provide the right certificate for the work and arrange any inspection needed.
What Hello does for electricians
- Answers every call, chat and email, including after hours, and says it's an AI assistant
- Sorts emergencies from bookings and quotes, using the questions you set
- Gives your approved safety steps before anything else on a dangerous call
- Books jobs into your Google or Outlook calendar with the address and fault
- Texts the electrician the caller's name, number and job before putting a call through
- Emails a summary of every call, so the job notes are waiting when you get back to the van
What Hello won't do
- Diagnose a fault or tell a customer something is safe
- Give DIY wiring advice
- Promise a price for a job you haven't seen
- Book into job management software on Solo or Team plans (it uses your calendar, or emails the job for you to confirm)
How it plays out
Example: up a ladder at 10am
You're fitting downlights. Three calls come in. Hello books a heat pump quote for Friday, takes a message from a property manager and texts you about an RCD that won't reset in a rest home. You call the rest home back from the van five minutes later, already knowing the address and the problem.
Example: a winter evening
It's 8pm in July and a customer's power has gone off in the middle of cooking dinner. Hello asks whether the neighbours are out. They're not, and the main switch has tripped. Hello gives your safety steps, books the first slot in the morning and texts you in case you want to go tonight.
Example: after a storm
The morning after heavy rain, the phone rings non-stop. Hello answers every call at once, tells people not to reset tripped breakers or use wet appliances, and builds you a list of addresses in order of urgency.
The rules that shape how Hello answers
Electrical emergencies come first
WorkSafe's advice for an electric shock is not to touch the person while they're in contact with the source, switch off at the mains if possible and call 111. For an electrical fire, never use water. Fallen lines should be treated as live and reported to the lines company. Hello gives this advice first, in your words, and then alerts you.
After floods, wait for an electrician
WorkSafe says people shouldn't reset tripped RCDs or breakers, or use wet appliances or EV chargers, until an electrician has checked them. Hello repeats this to storm-affected callers and books the inspection.

Paid electrical work needs a licensed worker
Anyone paid for electrical work must hold a current practising licence, and fixed wiring work needs a Certificate of Compliance. Customers can ask to see your licence. Hello can tell callers your EWRB registration and that you certify your work.
What a missed call-out is worth
One Auckland electrical contractor's cost guide (updated September 2026) puts residential rates at about $90 to $140 an hour including GST, plus a call-out fee. A customer with a fault rings the next electrician if you don't answer. Hello Solo is NZ$149 + GST a month, about NZ$4.90 + GST a day, so one saved call-out a month covers it.

Getting set up
- 01Write your safety steps for shocks, fires, burning smells and storms. Hello reads them word for word.
- 02Add the questions you want asked before a call-out, such as whole house or one circuit.
- 03Add your call-out fee and hourly rate if you're happy to quote them.
- 04Forward missed calls from your mobile with your phone's call forwarding code. Hello shows you the code in the app.
Questions from electricians
Will Hello tell a customer what's wrong?
No. Hello doesn't diagnose faults. It asks your triage questions, gives your safety steps and gets the job to you.
What happens with a real emergency?
Hello gives your safety instructions first, including calling 111 if someone is hurt or there's a fire, then texts you and puts the call through if you've set that up.
Does Hello work with Fergus, ServiceM8 or Tradify?
On Solo and Team plans Hello books into a Google or Outlook calendar and emails the job details. Connecting job management software is a custom job on the Scale plan.
Can I keep my mobile number on the van?
Yes. Forward your missed calls to Hello and keep your number. Mobiles can't be moved to Hello, so forwarding is the way to go.
Can it answer two calls at once?
Yes. Hello answers several calls at the same time, which matters most after a storm.
Will customers know it's AI?
Yes. Hello says it's an AI assistant at the start of every call. Most people just want to know someone's coming.
